Does the time of day I publish a new Etsy listing affect views and sales?

I run an Etsy shop and I’m trying to give new listings the best chance to get early views and sales. I’m not sure whether Etsy gives new listings a boost that depends on when they go live.

I usually upload and publish listings in the evening (around 6–10pm or later). Does the time of day I post a listing affect how much traction it gets, or is it mostly not a factor?

Hi! Time of day usually isn’t a big factor for Etsy search by itself—Etsy does give new listings a small, temporary “recency” bump so it can test shopper behavior, but that bump isn’t really about what hour you hit publish so much as what happens right after (clicks, favorites, and—most importantly—sales/conversion).

Where timing can matter is the human side of it: if your listing goes live when your ideal buyers are actively shopping, you’re more likely to get early engagement during that short testing window. So posting at 6–10pm can be totally fine (often good, honestly), but it depends on where your buyers are and when they’re browsing.

A practical way to think about it:

  • If most of your customers are in the US/Canada: evening can work well because people shop after work/dinner.
  • If you sell to multiple time zones (US + UK/EU/AU): there’s no single “best” hour—your listing will get seen over time anyway, so don’t stress it.
  • If you plan to drive traffic (Instagram/TikTok/email): publish right before you promote, so any outside traffic and engagement lands while the listing is “fresh.”

If you want to test it without overthinking: publish similar new listings at two different times for a few weeks (e.g., one batch around late morning/early afternoon, one around your usual evening window) and compare Etsy Search impressions, clicks, and orders in your Etsy Stats. That’ll tell you more about your shop than general advice ever will.
