Do I get Etsy Offsite Ads fees refunded if I cancel an order?

I run an Etsy shop and I need to cancel an order that was marked as coming from an Offsite Ad. I’m not sure how Etsy handles the advertising fee when an order is canceled or fully refunded.

If I cancel this sale and issue a full refund, will Etsy automatically remove or return the Offsite Ads fee, and is there anything specific I need to do to make sure it’s credited back correctly?

Hi! If you cancel the order and issue a full refund through Etsy, Etsy will typically reverse the Offsite Ads fee automatically (it shows up as a credit in your Payment account), so you usually don’t need to do anything extra beyond doing the cancellation/refund the “normal” Etsy way.

A couple things to watch so it credits back correctly:

  • Use “Cancel” on the order (which includes the full refund). Don’t just send money back outside Etsy, and don’t mark it complete and then “figure it out later.”
  • After you cancel, check Shop Manager → Finances → Payment account. The Offsite Ads charge is usually listed under Marketing, and the reversal will appear as a credit tied to that order/fee (sometimes it can take a little time to fully update).
  • If you don’t see the Offsite Ads fee credit back after a day or two, open the order and your Payment account line items and contact Etsy Support—occasionally accounts lag or a fee doesn’t net out the way you expect.

Also worth noting: different Etsy fees behave differently on refunds (some credits come back, some don’t), so focus specifically on the Offsite Ads fee line in your Payment account to confirm it was actually credited back for that cancellation.
