Do I get Etsy Offsite Ads fees refunded if I cancel an order?

I run an Etsy shop and I need to cancel an order that was attributed to an Offsite Ad. I’m not sure how Etsy handles the Offsite Ads fee when a sale is canceled and refunded.

If I cancel the order, will Etsy automatically reverse the Offsite Ads fee, or do I need to request it separately?

Hi! If you cancel the order in Etsy (which issues a full refund through Etsy Payments), Etsy will automatically reverse the Offsite Ads fee for that order—you normally don’t need to request it separately.

A couple helpful notes so you know what to watch for:

  • The reversal usually shows up in your Payment account as an adjustment/credit tied to that order (sometimes it’s not instant—give it a little time to post).
  • If you do a partial refund instead of a full cancellation, the Offsite Ads fee is typically credited back proportionally to the amount you refunded, since the fee is based on the order total.
  • If you don’t see the Offsite Ads fee credit after a few business days (or by the next statement cycle), that’s when it’s worth reaching out to Etsy Support with the order still visible in your account (no need to send any private buyer details).

One more quick heads-up: canceling solely to “redo” the order to dodge the Offsite Ads fee can be viewed as fee avoidance, so it’s best to cancel only when you genuinely can’t fulfill the order or need to fully refund for a valid reason.
