Do I get Etsy Offsite Ads fees refunded if I cancel an order?

I run an Etsy shop and just had to cancel an order that was marked as coming from an Offsite Ads click. I’m not sure how the Offsite Ads fee works when a sale is canceled and refunded.

If I fully cancel and refund the order, does Etsy reverse the Offsite Ads fee automatically, and are there any conditions that affect whether the fee is returned?

Hi! Yes—if you fully cancel an order and fully refund the buyer, Etsy will generally reverse (credit back) the Offsite Ads fee for that order automatically. You’ll usually see it show up in your Payment account as a credit tied to that same order/fee (often under the “Marketing” area).

A couple conditions that can change what you see:

  • Full vs. partial refund: If you only do a partial refund, Etsy typically only credits back the corresponding portion of the Offsite Ads fee (not the whole thing).
  • Refunded but not canceled: If you refund but don’t actually cancel the order (where that’s possible), it can be harder to tell what’s happening. A true order cancellation on Etsy requires a full refund, and that’s the cleanest scenario for fee credits.
  • Timing: The Offsite Ads fee credit isn’t always instant. It often posts shortly after the cancellation/refund is processed, but if you don’t see it after a bit, check your Payment account activity for that order to confirm whether the Offsite Ads fee was credited.

Quick way to verify: go to your Payment account and open the order’s fee line items—look for an Offsite Ads fee and then a matching fee credit. If the order is fully canceled/refunded and the credit still doesn’t appear after a few days, it’s worth contacting Etsy Support with just the order shown on-screen (no need to share any private details here).
