Why can’t I access Etsy Shop Manager after creating my first shop?

Anonymous • in 21 hours • 1 answer

I’m trying to open my first Etsy shop to sell my artwork, and I completed the setup steps like choosing a shop name on the website.

Now I can’t access Shop Manager. On desktop I get a “page not found” type error, and in the Etsy app it says there’s no shop connected to my account. My profile shows me as the shop owner, but I still can’t manage the shop or finish setting it up.

What should I check to make sure my shop is actually linked to the right Etsy account, and what are the usual fixes when a new shop won’t open in Shop Manager?

Hi! This almost always comes down to one of two things: (1) you’re signed into a different Etsy account than the one that actually created the shop (super common if you used Google/Apple/Facebook sign-in on one device and email/password on another), or (2) the shop creation didn’t fully “open” because a required step (often 2‑factor authentication, verification, or billing details) didn’t finish—so Etsy shows your shop name/profile bits, but Shop Manager won’t load and the app says “no shop connected.”

Here’s what I’d check, in the order that usually fixes it fastest:

1) Confirm you’re on the exact same Etsy account everywhere

  • On desktop (browser) and in the Etsy app, go to your account settings and compare the email address on the account. Make sure they match exactly.
  • If you used “Continue with Google/Apple” at any point, try logging out and logging back in using that same method on the device where it’s failing (and also try email/password if that’s what you used originally). It’s easy to accidentally create two Etsy accounts that look like “you,” but only one has the shop attached.
  • In the Etsy app, fully log out, then log back in (don’t just switch screens). If you have multiple accounts saved on your phone, remove the wrong one.

2) Make sure the shop is actually “opened” (setup fully completed)
Even if you picked a shop name, Etsy may still require you to complete steps before Shop Manager works reliably, especially:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) setup
  • Any security/identity verification prompts
  • Billing/payment setup steps in the shop-opening flow

On desktop, try going back to the “open your shop” / shop setup flow and click through each section to confirm nothing is incomplete or erroring out (sometimes a single field didn’t save).

3) Try the clean “tech issue” fixes (this matters a lot for Shop Manager)
A “page not found” type error can be a bad cookie/session or a browser extension/VPN issue.

  • Open an incognito/private window and sign in again.
  • Disable ad blockers/privacy extensions temporarily (they can break Etsy’s seller pages).
  • Turn off VPN (or switch networks) and retry.
  • Clear Etsy site cookies/cache (not necessarily your whole browser history).
  • If you’re using Safari, try Chrome/Firefox (or vice versa).

4) Try accessing the seller dashboard via the direct Shop Manager path
Sometimes the Shop Manager menu link glitches or loops, but the dashboard page still loads. In a desktop browser, you can try opening the seller dashboard using Etsy’s standard “/your/shops/me/dashboard” path (same account signed in). If that works, it’s usually a session/redirect/cookie problem.

5) Check whether you can view your shop publicly

  • If your shop URL loads publicly (even with no listings), that’s a good sign the shop exists.
  • If the shop page doesn’t exist publicly and Shop Manager 404s, the shop may not have successfully opened/attached.

6) If none of the above works: it’s likely an account/shop attachment issue Etsy has to fix
If you’ve confirmed the correct email/login method, tried a clean browser session, and the Etsy Seller app still says “no shop connected,” you’ll probably need Etsy Support to restore the shop-to-account connection on their side. When you contact them, describe it exactly like you did (Shop Manager 404 + app says no shop connected), and mention you’ve already tested multiple browsers/devices and verified you’re using the same login method/email.

If you tell me which login method you used when you first created the shop (email/password vs Google/Apple/Facebook), and whether your shop page loads publicly, I can narrow this down to the most likely fix.
