Why can’t I save an Etsy shipping profile when I’m in Argentina using a US supplier?

I’m an Etsy seller based in Argentina and I’m trying to create a shipping profile. My main customers are in the US, and my orders would ship from a supplier located in the US.

When I enter the shipping settings and try to save the profile (using US shipping details), Etsy shows an error that it can’t save the profile. What settings should I check to make sure the shipping origin and delivery options are set up correctly, and are there any location or shop settings that could prevent saving a shipping profile?

Hi! The most common reason this happens is that you’re trying to build a calculated shipping profile using a US origin ZIP / USPS-style services, but Etsy only lets certain countries (notably US/Canada) use those calculated-shipping setup options. If your shop is based in Argentina, Etsy can throw a “can’t save profile” error when the profile is configured in a way that requires US/Canada seller eligibility—even if your supplier is in the US.

Here’s what to check (in order), so you can save the shipping profile successfully:

1) Make sure you’re not using “Calculate them for me”

  • In the shipping profile, set shipping costs to fixed/manual (wording varies like “I’ll enter fixed costs manually”).
  • If you choose calculated shipping and it asks for a US ZIP and USPS services, that’s usually the path that won’t save for a non‑US/non‑Canada shop.

2) Check your shop country/location vs. “ships from”

  • Keep your shop location set to your real location in Argentina (changing it to the US to “make it work” can create trust/policy issues).
  • If your items ship from the US, reflect that in the listing where Etsy lets you specify “Ships from” (and/or clearly state it in your listing description and shipping details). Many sellers do this when using a US production partner/fulfillment supplier.

3) Required fields that can block saving (easy to miss)
Make sure all of these are filled:

  • Processing time selected (even if it’s “ready to ship”)
  • At least one shipping destination (US, and any others you want)
  • At least one shipping service/option added for the US (even if it’s just one line like “Standard shipping”)
  • A profile name (some sellers miss this at the end)
  • If you offer upgrades (standard/express), each option needs a price (and sometimes an “additional item” price if Etsy prompts for it)

4) Country destinations: don’t fight the defaults
Depending on the profile type, Etsy may require certain destination settings (for example, your shop country can be “sticky” in some setups). If you can’t remove something, leave it and set pricing so it won’t cause issues (or use a separate fixed-rate profile per region).

5) If it still won’t save (likely a technical/UI issue)
Try quick technical fixes:

  • Save from a desktop browser (not the app), or switch browsers
  • Disable ad blockers/extensions for Etsy
  • Clear cache/cookies or use an incognito window

If you tell me whether you’re selecting Calculated vs Fixed/manual, and what you chose for shipping services (USPS/other), I can point to the exact setting that’s most likely triggering the save error in your case.
