Can changing my Etsy shop name multiple times get my shop suspended?

I run an Etsy shop and I’m considering changing my shop name again. This would be my third name change in about six months.

Does Etsy restrict how often you can change a shop name, and could changing it several times lead to a suspension or other limits on my shop?

Hi! Changing your Etsy shop name several times won’t get you suspended by itself—Etsy allows you to change your shop name up to 5 times from your Shop settings, and only after you’ve used those changes would you need to contact Etsy Support for approval. So a third name change in six months is still within Etsy’s normal limit.

That said, frequent rebrands can create practical issues (not usually enforcement issues): shoppers may not recognize you, old marketing materials/business cards won’t match, and it can temporarily confuse repeat buyers who are trying to find you again.

If you do change it again, a few “keep it smooth” tips:

  • Announce it in your shop announcement and in a message to recent buyers (keep it informational—don’t ask for reviews).
  • Update your branding (banner, logo, listing photos that include your shop name, packaging inserts, social handles) the same day.
  • Try to stick with the new name for a while so your Etsy SEO signals and customer recognition have time to settle.

You’d generally only run into trouble if name changes were part of behavior that looks like fraud/scams (like constantly changing identities while also changing ownership/payment details, or misleading buyers). If you’re just legitimately rebranding, you’re fine.
