Can I schedule Etsy messages to send later instead of replying at night?

Anonymous • in 2 days • 1 answer

I run an Etsy shop and often catch up on customer messages late at night. I want to reply promptly, but I don’t love the idea of messages going out at 2 a.m. because it can feel unprofessional.

Does Etsy have any way to schedule messages to send later, or is there a recommended workaround for drafting replies and sending them during business hours?

Hi! Etsy doesn’t currently let you “schedule send” for normal 1:1 Messages the way email tools do—once you hit Send, it goes out right then. So if you don’t want a 2 a.m. timestamp, the simplest workaround is to draft your reply somewhere else (Notes app, Google Doc, a text expander, etc.), then copy/paste and send during your business hours.

If you want something more “official” inside Etsy, your best options are:

  • Weekly auto-reply (scheduled): You can set business hours and have Etsy automatically send an auto-reply outside those hours. That way, if someone messages at night, they get a polite “Thanks—I'll respond tomorrow” immediately, and you can reply for real in the morning.
  • Quick replies (saved templates): If you’re answering the same questions a lot (processing time, shipping, custom orders), save a few quick replies so you can respond quickly during the day without rewriting everything.

A practical flow that feels professional is: turn on a weekly auto-reply for nights/weekends, write your “real” responses late at night in a notes file (or as a quick reply you personalize), and then send them the next morning. This keeps response times solid without making it look like you’re up messaging customers in the middle of the night.
