How Many Photos Should an Etsy Listing Have?

I’m setting up Etsy listings for custom commissions, and I want buyers to provide more than one piece of information at checkout (for example, a name plus color choices or other details).
How can I add multiple separate personalization boxes on an Etsy listing, and if Etsy only allows one field, what’s the best workaround?
Hi! On Etsy right now you can’t add multiple separate personalization boxes to one Etsy listing the way you’re describing—Etsy gives you one personalization text box per listing (you can make it required and you can add instructions above it). The best workaround is to collect the “structured” info with Variations (dropdowns like color/size/style), and use the single Personalization box for the remaining free‑text details (like the name, exact wording, or special notes).
Here’s the cleanest setup that usually works best for custom commissions:
1) Use Variations for anything that fits a preset choice
2) Use the Personalization box as a mini form (template)
When you enable Personalization, paste a template into the “instructions for buyers” so they fill it out in one go, like:
Tip: If you need a specific format, say so (“Please copy/paste and fill in each line. Don’t leave blanks.”) and make the personalization field required.
3) If you still need more info than will comfortably fit
If you tell me what exact details you need to collect (name, size, 2–3 colors, reference image, deadline, etc.), I can suggest the simplest combination of Variations + a copy/paste personalization template that fits your workflow.
