Do Etsy listing fees apply per product or per shop for digital downloads?

Anonymous • in 2 days • 1 answer

I’m getting ready to open an Etsy shop to sell digital download products, and I’m trying to understand the fees before I list anything.

I’ve seen a fee amount referenced, and I’m not sure if it’s a one-time shop setup cost, a monthly shop fee, or a fee charged for each individual listing.

For digital products on Etsy, do the listing fees apply per shop or per product, and when are they charged?

Hi! On Etsy, the listing fee is charged per individual listing (per product listing), not per shop—and it works the same for digital downloads as it does for physical items.

Here’s when you’re charged:

  • When you publish a new Etsy listing: you’re charged the standard listing fee right then (it’s added to your Etsy Payment account).
  • When the listing renews: Etsy listings run for a listing period (commonly 4 months). If you renew it (manually or via auto-renew), you’re charged the listing fee again.
  • If you sell multiple quantities in one listing: for listings set to a quantity higher than 1, Etsy may charge an additional listing/renewal fee as additional quantities sell (this matters more for physical products, but it can still apply if you structure your digital listing with multiple quantities).

Separate from listing fees, Etsy may also charge other fees when you make a sale (like transaction and payment processing fees), but the listing fee itself is per listing and charged when you list/renew, not as a monthly shop fee.
