How do I change my Etsy Ads goal without changing my ad strategy?

I run Etsy Ads for my shop, and I’m trying to update the campaign goal (the objective the ads are optimized for), not adjust my bid or overall ad strategy.

I can’t find where the goal setting is located in the Etsy Ads dashboard. Where do I change the Etsy Ads goal, and are there any requirements or limitations on when it can be updated?

Hi! On Etsy Ads there isn’t a separate “campaign goal/objective” control like you’d see on Google or Meta—what Etsy gives you instead is an “Optimizing for” / listing strategy setting (and it only shows up if your shop is eligible). So if you’re hunting for a dedicated campaign-goal dropdown and can’t find it, you’re not missing it.

If you do have access to strategy/goal controls, you’ll change it here:

  • Shop Manager → Marketing → Etsy Ads
  • Go to Manage advertised listings (or scroll to your listings table on the Ads page)
  • Use the “Optimizing for” control on a listing (or select multiple listings and set it in bulk)
  • You can also set your Default listing strategy under the Settings tab on the Etsy Ads page (so new/unchanged listings follow that default)

Requirements / limitations to be aware of

  • Eligibility: Etsy only shows the selectable strategies (“Greater visibility,” “Efficient spending,” “Lower click cost”) if your Etsy Ads maximum daily budget is at least $25. If your max daily budget is below that, Etsy keeps everything on the default balanced option and you won’t see a goal/strategy selector.
  • When you can change it: If the selector is available in your dashboard, you can typically change strategies anytime, but Etsy recommends leaving a strategy running around 30 days before judging results (frequent switching can muddy the data and performance).
  • New shops: If your shop is very new, Etsy may also enforce a short waiting period before you can start Etsy Ads at all.

If you tell me whether you’re seeing an “Optimizing for” column anywhere (and what your current max daily budget shows), I can point you to the exact spot you should be clicking in your version of the Etsy Ads dashboard.
