How do I manage Etsy listing photos on an iPad (upload from iCloud and reorder images)?

I run my Etsy shop from an iPad because my laptop isn’t reliable right now, and I’m having trouble managing listing photos. In the mobile browser, I can’t drag images to reorder them, and in the Etsy Seller app I can reorder photos but it only lets me upload from the iPad Photos library—not from iCloud/Files where I keep my product images.

When I upload images through a browser using Files, the Seller app doesn’t always show the new images, so I can’t reorder what I just uploaded. What’s the least painful iPad workflow to upload images from iCloud/Files and reliably reorder listing photos (or is there a setting/app workaround to make this work)?

Hi! The least painful iPad workflow is to pick one place to do the photo work per session (either all in Safari/Shop Manager or all in the Etsy Seller app), because the Seller app often caches listing images and won’t reliably “see” photos you just uploaded in a browser right away. On iPad, the most reliable setup is usually: move/copy your iCloud Drive images into the iPad Photos app first, then upload + reorder inside the Etsy Seller app in one go.

Here are the two workflows that tend to work best:

Workflow A (most reliable): iCloud Drive → Photos → Etsy Seller app (upload + reorder)

  1. In the Files app (iCloud Drive): select your listing images.
  2. Tap ShareSave Image (or Save to Photos).
    • If you don’t see “Save Image,” you can also open an image and use Share from there, or save them one-by-one.
  3. (Optional but worth it): In the Photos app, put them into a dedicated album like “Etsy Upload” so they’re easy to find.
  4. In the Etsy Seller app: edit the listing → add photos (from Photos) → Reorder → Save.

Why this works: the Seller app is happiest when it uploads from the Photos library, and reordering is smooth once the images are “inside” the app’s expected source.

Tip: If you do this a lot, create an iPad Shortcut that takes selected Files and “saves to Photos,” so it’s a 2-tap step.

Workflow B (all-browser): Use Safari “desktop” mode so you can drag to reorder

If you’d rather never touch Photos:

  1. In Safari, open Etsy Shop Manager and request the desktop website (not the mobile view).
  2. Edit the listing → Photos section → press-and-hold a photo thumbnail and drag to reorder.
  3. If dragging still won’t behave, using a trackpad/mouse with your iPad often makes the drag-and-drop reorder work more like a computer.

This works best if you stay in the browser the whole time (upload + reorder + save) and don’t switch to the Seller app mid-edit.

If your Seller app isn’t showing photos you uploaded in Safari

That’s usually caching/sync delay. The quickest fixes are:

  • Close the listing and reopen it (sometimes twice).
  • Force-quit the Etsy Seller app and relaunch.
  • Pull to refresh / navigate away and back.
  • If you edited the same listing in both places, wait a bit before trying to reorder (sometimes it’s not instant).

If you want, tell me which iPad model/iPadOS version you’re on and whether you’re using Safari or Chrome, and I’ll suggest the exact taps for “desktop mode” and the fastest Shortcut-style setup for iCloud Drive → Photos.
