How do I regain access to my Etsy account if 2FA is tied to an old phone number?

I’m an Etsy seller and I’m locked out of my account after changing my password. When I try to sign in, it asks for two-factor authentication, but the code is being sent to a phone number I no longer have access to, and I don’t have any backup/recovery codes saved.

What’s the best way to contact Etsy and verify my identity so I can remove or reset 2FA and get back into my account?

Hi! If your Etsy 2FA is still tied to an old phone number and you don’t have backup codes, the fastest legit fix is to go through Etsy’s “Trouble signing in” / “I still need help” flow so Support can verify you and disable/reset 2FA—Etsy doesn’t have a public phone number you can call directly, and any real phone support only happens as a callback you request through their Contact Support process.

Here’s what to do (works even when you can’t log in):

  1. Go to Etsy’s Help Center and look for Contact support (it may push you to a sign-in screen).
  2. On the “Sign in to contact us” page, choose Trouble signing in?
  3. Follow the prompts for Two-factor authentication / can’t access phone / don’t have backup codes, then select I still need help.
  4. Submit the request and choose any available option (email/message, and if offered, request a callback).

A few tips so your identity verification goes smoothly:

  • Use the same email address and shop/account details you’ve always used on Etsy.
  • Be ready to confirm things only the owner should know (for example: your shop name, approximate last login, billing/payment details on file, recent order details). Don’t send sensitive info unless Etsy asks for it inside the official support flow.
  • Check your email (and spam/junk) for replies from Etsy, and respond in the same thread so your ticket doesn’t get split.

Two quick “sometimes” fixes before you wait on Support:

  • If you recently lost that number, contact your mobile carrier to see if they can reclaim/reactivate the old number (even briefly). If you can receive one code, you may be able to turn off 2FA and add your new number.
  • If you’re still logged in on any device (Etsy Seller app/browser), don’t log out—sometimes you can update security settings from an already-trusted session.

Once you’re back in, switch 2FA to an authenticator app (or at least re-save your backup codes) so a phone-number change can’t lock you out again.

If you tell me what you see on the screen after you click “Trouble signing in?” (just the options/buttons—no private info), I can point you to the exact category to pick so you reach the right support form faster.
