How do I set up bulk pricing by quantity at checkout on Etsy?

Anonymous • in 4 hours • 1 answer

I sell custom trading cards and I want buyers to get the correct price based on how many cards they order (for example, 1 card vs 3 cards vs 10 cards). Right now I’m using listing options for different bundle prices, but customers sometimes choose the bundle option and then leave the quantity set to 1.

Is there a way to make Etsy apply bulk pricing automatically based on quantity, or a better listing setup to prevent mismatched option/quantity selections?

Hi! Etsy doesn’t currently have “automatic tiered/bulk pricing” that changes the per-card price at checkout based on the quantity selector (it basically just does item price × quantity), so the safest approach is to structure the listing so buyers can’t accidentally mix a “bundle” variation with a different quantity.

The best Etsy listing setup to prevent mismatches is this:

  • Use one variation for “Pack size / Number of cards” (1, 3, 10, etc.) and make the variation price the total bundle price.
  • In the Variations settings, toggle Quantity on (so each pack size has its own quantity).
  • Then set the quantity for each variation to 1 (or another small number if you want people to be able to buy multiples of the same pack). When each variation’s quantity is 1, Etsy effectively won’t let them check out with “Pack of 10” and quantity 1 vs 10 confusion—they’re forced to pick the pack size they want.

A couple extra tweaks that help a lot:

  • Add a required Personalization box that says something like: “Type the pack size you selected (1 / 3 / 10) to confirm. Quantity should stay at 1.”
  • In your photos, include a simple “How to order” graphic: Step 1: Choose pack size. Step 2: Keep quantity at 1.

If you really want true bulk pricing (like “$X each for 1–2, $Y each for 3–9, $Z each for 10+”), Etsy can’t calculate that automatically in one listing—your options are either separate listings per tier/bundle, or handling big orders via a custom order (custom listing) when someone messages you.
