Why can buyers still choose USPS on Etsy after I set FedEx-only shipping?

I sell physical items on Etsy, and I’m trying to offer FedEx as the only shipping option. I created a new shipping profile with only FedEx and removed the older profile that used to include multiple carriers.

Even after updating the profile, buyers still seem to have the option to select USPS at checkout. What settings or listing details should I check to make sure USPS is completely removed and only FedEx shows for every order?

Hi! The most common reason this happens is that one or more of your listings are still using calculated shipping (which is USPS-based on Etsy), or you’ve got a shipping/delivery upgrade still enabled that’s showing a USPS service at checkout—even if your “main” shipping profile looks like FedEx-only.

Here’s what I’d check, in order:

  1. Make sure the listing is actually using the new FedEx profile
Even if you deleted the old shipping profile, some listings may still be attached to something else (or didn’t get updated).
  • Go to Shop Manager → Listings
  • Use Quick Edit (or bulk edit) → look for Shipping/Delivery profile
  • Confirm every listing is set to your FedEx-only profile (don’t assume—spot check a few bestsellers)
  1. Confirm the FedEx profile is NOT “Calculated shipping”
On Etsy, calculated shipping is essentially USPS-only for US sellers, so if the profile (or listing) is still set to “calculate for me,” buyers can end up seeing USPS options.
  • Go to Shop Manager → Settings → Shipping settings (or Delivery settings) → Shipping/Delivery profiles
  • Edit your FedEx profile and make sure it’s set to fixed prices/manual rates (not “calculate them for me”)
  • Then make sure the delivery service you selected is FedEx (and no USPS services are selected anywhere in that profile)
  1. Remove any shipping/delivery upgrades that mention USPS
Even if your standard option is FedEx, an upgrade can show up at checkout as USPS.
  • In the same profile editor, look for Delivery upgrade / Shipping upgrades
  • Delete any upgrades you previously created (or rebuild them as FedEx-only)

Also note: if a buyer has an upgrade available on any item in their cart, Etsy can show that upgrade for the whole order—so one older listing with a USPS upgrade can make it look like “USPS is still available.”

  1. Watch for PO Boxes / APO/FPO addresses (FedEx can’t deliver to many of these)
If someone checks out with a PO Box (or certain military addresses), Etsy/the buyer may effectively need a postal-compatible method. If you’re truly FedEx-only, consider adding clear listing/shop messaging like “No PO Boxes” and be ready to message/cancel if you can’t ship to their address.

If you tell me whether your FedEx profile is fixed/manual or calculated, and whether buyers are seeing USPS as a separate selectable method or as a “standard shipping” label, I can help you narrow it down fast.
