How can I find and update the bank account linked to my Etsy Payments?

I run an Etsy shop and need to verify or change the bank account used for Etsy Payments deposits. The bank details were added a long time ago, and I don’t remember which bank I originally linked.

Is there a way in Etsy to identify which bank account is currently connected (at least the bank name or last digits), and what’s the safest way to update it if I can’t tell which bank it is?

Answers

Hi! Yes—Etsy will usually show you at least the last few digits of the bank account that’s currently linked, but it often won’t show the full bank name/full account number for security.

To check what’s linked right now (and see the last digits):

  • Go to Shop ManagerFinancesPayment settings
  • Look for Bank account (or Bank details)—you should see something like •••• 1234 and a Verified status (if it’s verified).

If you still can’t tell which bank it is, the safest way to identify it is to match it from the “real world” side:

  • Check your bank accounts for past Etsy deposits (search your transaction history for “Etsy” or “Etsy Payments”). The account receiving those deposits is the one linked.
  • In Etsy, go to Shop ManagerFinancesPayment account and review your deposit history (dates/amounts). Then match those deposits to the deposits you see in your bank statement.

If you need to update the bank account:

  1. Go to Shop ManagerFinancesPayment settings
  2. Next to your Bank account, choose Update (or Edit)
  3. Follow the prompts to verify—many US banks use Plaid for instant verification, otherwise Etsy may do a small test deposit / manual verification depending on your bank and situation.

A couple important “safe” notes before you change anything:

  • Expect a deposit hold after changes. Etsy commonly places a temporary hold (often 5 business days) on funds available for deposit after you update bank details, as a security measure.
  • Don’t guess any “current bank account” confirmation prompts. If Etsy asks you to confirm the existing account (like last digits) and you don’t know them, stop and identify the correct account first by matching prior Etsy deposits—guessing can trigger verification problems.
  • Only do this by typing Etsy into your browser or using the Etsy Seller app—avoid clicking “verify bank” links from emails unless you’ve confirmed it’s legit.

If Etsy won’t let you update because it requires confirming the old account details and you truly can’t identify them, your best move is to pause deposits/sales if needed (so money doesn’t keep flowing to an unknown account) and contact Etsy Support through the help options inside your account—this is one of those cases where they may need to assist with account verification steps.
