When do Etsy payouts get deposited for a new seller after the first sale?

For a brand-new Etsy shop, it’s normal for your first sale’s money to not be available for deposit right away—Etsy typically makes funds available for deposit about 14–20 days after each sale for new sellers (sometimes a bit longer depending on your shop’s standing). Once the money is “available for deposit,” Etsy will send it to your bank on your deposit schedule (new shops are usually set to weekly deposits on Mondays), and then your bank can take about 1–5 business days to actually show it in your account.

A few common holds/delays to plan for:

• New-seller availability delay (the big one): your funds may sit in your Payment account as “not available for deposit yet” for roughly that 14–20 day window.
• Bank info changes = extra hold: if you add or update your bank details, Etsy can place a 5-day hold on funds for security.
• Payment account reserve (holds part of each sale): Etsy may place a reserve on new or higher-risk accounts. If that happens, a portion of each order won’t be depositable until you ship with tracking (and Etsy can see it’s in transit) or until the reserve’s holding period passes.
• Negative balance / fees / refunds: Etsy fees, shipping labels, refunds, or chargebacks can reduce what’s “available for deposit,” and a negative balance can prevent a payout.
• Weekends/holidays: if your deposit day lands on a non-business day, it usually moves to the next business day, and banks can add extra processing time.
