Why did my Etsy buyer pay more than the listing price for an international order?

• • No answers yet I sell physical items on Etsy and I noticed an order where the buyer’s payment total was higher than my listed item price. In this case the buyer paid more than the $6.98 listing price, and my payout after fees looks higher than the item price too.
The buyer is outside the US and I’m in the US, but I’ve had international orders before and haven’t noticed this. What would cause a buyer to be charged more than the listing price (taxes, VAT, currency conversion, shipping, etc.), and why might my earnings appear higher than the item price on this order?
