Why won’t the “Verify your info” button work on Etsy after my first order?

I just received my first order on my Etsy shop and got a notification asking me to “Verify your info.” When I click the verification button, nothing happens.

I’ve tried different browsers and devices and I’m seeing the same issue. What should I check to get the verification page to open, and is there another way to complete the required verification so my order isn’t delayed?

Hi! This usually happens when Etsy is trying to launch an identity/payment verification flow (often a pop-up/embedded window), but something on your device/network is blocking it—or the “verify” prompt isn’t coming from the real Etsy verification screen. The fastest workaround is to skip the button entirely and open verification from your Shop Manager settings directly.

First, make sure the request is legit (this matters a lot with first orders):

  • Only trust a banner/alert inside Shop Manager (seller dashboard), not a message “from the buyer” or a random email/text asking you to verify.
  • Etsy won’t ask you to “verify” through a buyer message or a sketchy link/QR code.

If it’s a real Etsy prompt, try completing verification this way (instead of clicking the button):

  • On desktop web (not the in-app browser), go to Shop Manager → Finances/Payment settings (Etsy Payments) → Legal and tax information / Identity verification and look for any required steps there (ID upload, personal details, bank verification, etc.).
  • Also check Shop Manager → Settings for anything labeled Verification, Etsy Payments, Taxpayer/Legal info, or Bank account. Etsy sometimes places the same required step in more than one spot.

If the page still won’t open, these are the most common fixes:

  • Turn off ad blockers / privacy extensions / script blockers (uBlock, Ghostery, Brave Shields, etc.) for Etsy, then refresh and try again.
  • Allow pop-ups and third‑party cookies (verification providers can require them).
  • Try an incognito/private window (no extensions), then sign in and retry.
  • If you’re on a work/school network, try a different network (mobile hotspot works) in case something is blocked.
  • If you’re using the Etsy Seller app, try the same steps on a desktop browser—the verification flow can be picky about embedded browsers.

About your order: if Etsy is requiring verification, they may hold funds and/or limit what you can do until it’s completed, so don’t ship anything until your order shows as paid/okay to ship in Etsy. If verification is blocking you from moving forward, message the buyer briefly that Etsy is completing a routine account verification and you’ll ship as soon as it clears (no need to mention anything sensitive).

If you tell me where you’re seeing the “Verify your info” prompt (Seller Dashboard banner vs email vs message) and whether you’re on the Etsy Seller app or desktop, I can point you to the exact menu path that matches your screen.
