How can I schedule Etsy messages so customers don’t get replies at night?

Anonymous • tomorrow • 1 answer

I run an Etsy shop and often catch up on customer messages late at night. I’d like to write my replies when I’m working, but I don’t want buyers receiving messages at 2 a.m. because it can come across as unprofessional.

Is there any way to schedule Etsy messages to send later, or a recommended workaround (like saved replies or an auto-response) to manage message timing?

Hi! Etsy doesn’t currently let you “schedule” a message to send later—once you hit Send, it goes out right away—so the main workaround is to write your reply elsewhere and paste/send it during business hours, and/or use Etsy’s Auto-reply + Saved Snippets (quick replies) to manage expectations.

Here are the best options that actually work on Etsy:

1) Use a weekly Auto-reply during your “off hours” (best for professionalism)
If you often work late, set a weekly auto-reply that triggers when someone messages you outside your posted availability. It doesn’t delay your manual messages, but it prevents buyers from feeling ignored overnight and sets expectations like “I’ll reply tomorrow morning.”

  • On Etsy.com: Shop Manager → Messages → Auto-reply → Weekly auto-reply
  • Choose the days/hours you’re “available,” and Etsy will auto-respond outside those hours.
Tip: Weekly auto-reply has a few requirements (like minimum hours/days selected) and it’s managed on Etsy.com (not in the Seller app), so don’t be surprised if it won’t save until it meets Etsy’s rules.

2) Use Saved Snippets / Quick Replies (so you can reply fast when you do send)
Saved Snippets (also called quick replies) don’t schedule anything, but they make it easy to respond in the morning without rewriting the same info. Build snippets for shipping timelines, custom orders, returns, etc., and drop them in with a couple taps.

3) The simple “draft” workaround (most reliable)
Since there’s no send-later button, do this instead:

  • Write your response in Notes/Google Docs (or even a private draft email to yourself)
  • Copy/paste into Etsy Messages when you’re ready to send (e.g., 8–10 a.m.)

If you want, tell me what hours you’d like buyers to see replies (and your time zone), and I’ll suggest a clean weekly auto-reply message you can paste in that sounds friendly but still professional.
