Do I get Etsy Offsite Ads fees refunded if I cancel an order?

I run an Etsy shop and I need to cancel an order that was attributed to an Offsite Ad. I’m not sure how Etsy handles the Offsite Ads fee when a sale is canceled and refunded.

If I cancel the order, will Etsy remove or refund the Offsite Ads fee automatically, or do I need to do anything to get it back?

Hi! If you cancel the order and issue a full refund through Etsy (Shop Manager), Etsy will typically reverse the related fees for that order, and the Offsite Ads fee is usually credited back automatically as part of that reversal—you shouldn’t have to manually request it.

A couple important “gotchas” to make sure you get it back:

  • Do the refund/cancel inside Etsy (Orders → the order → refund/cancel). If you refund outside Etsy (like sending money directly via PayPal/Venmo, etc.), Etsy usually can’t automatically return fees tied to the order.
  • Full refund vs partial refund: A partial refund may not fully reverse an Offsite Ads fee (since the order wasn’t fully voided). If you want the Offsite Ads fee back, you generally want a full refund + cancel.

What I’d do:

  1. Issue a full refund from Shop Manager, and check “Cancel order” (so it’s fully voided).
  2. Then watch your Payment account for the credit/reversal. It may not appear instantly—cancellations can take a bit to fully process.

If you don’t see the Offsite Ads fee credit after the cancellation finishes processing (give it up to about 48 hours), that’s when it’s worth reaching out to Etsy Support, because something may not have posted correctly.
